The story behind the Bravo Bell's purpose goes as follows: an old gray-bearded biker was traveling back from Mexico on a cool desert night with a full moon. His saddlebags were filled with trinkets for the kids at home and his biker friends. However, unbeknownst to him, Gremlins were lying in wait, ready to set traps on the road or deploy invisible, devilish devices to sabotage his bike.

As the biker rounded a sharp turn, the Gremlins herded a coyote onto the road, causing the biker to skid and crash. He woke up in the ditch and saw the Gremlins moving towards him. In desperation, he started throwing items from his torn saddlebag, and the only things that managed to scare the Gremlins were the bells he had purchased for the children.

Amazingly, the ringing of the bells seemed to confuse the Gremlins, and a couple of nearby bikers, hearing the commotion, came to the old gray-beard's rescue. Grateful for their assistance, the biker cut some tassels from his saddlebag and used them to tie a bell to each of their bikes. He explained how the bells would warn off the Gremlins and, if they were ever in trouble, they could ring the bell to call for help.
